Garnishes are the fruits, toppings etc that are placed in a drink. They play a big part in making the drink. It's about as important as the bride is to the groom. Here are some basic rules:
1. Generally, any drink served with tequila comes with a lime wedge.
2. Also, any drink that has club soda or tonic also comes with a lime unless it's a flavored vodka (Absolut Mandarin & Soda).
3. Cherries are applied to alot of drinks. Almost anything with sour mix (whiskey sours), frozen/blended drinks, and tropical run drinks like Mai Tais.
So if you are trying to impress your friends with your bartending skills, avoid faux pas like a slice of orange on a Margarita.
80 Proof
I'm a bartender by trade and take pride in what I do. With so many new liquors coming out I figure I share some recipes and other random stuff that's totally unrelated.

Skinny Margarita from scratch
Skinny Margaritas made by Bethanny Frankel can be made from scratch.
Ingredients:
1-2 packets of Splenda
Fresh limes & lemons
Tequila
Triple Sec
Club soda
Tools: Shaker tin with a top (or pint glass)
Fill the shaker tin with ice. Empty the Splenda, a shout of tequila, half shot of triple sec into the tin. Squeeze fresh lemon and lime juice. Use approximately 20 wedges ( lime & lemon). Shake everything up for about 10 seconds.
Strain the drink into a salt rimmed glass and fill with club soda.
From a professional stand point, these drinks are a hassle to make when it is busy. But if you are on a diet or monitoring your sugar (diabetes) then this is the drink for you.

Pinterest Hack
Like most women between the age of 25-45, I like to browse Pinterest for projects, inspirations and visual candy.
I'm a mother of 2 little ones (K & 1st grade) so they haven't earned my confidence yet in regards to handling money. But this pinner totally inspired me to do my own.
Ok, I'm telling stories. The original site: blog had free downloadable template but it didn't align with my sticker label. So I had to do it myself.
Depending on how crazy you want to get, you get the best price from OnlineLabels.com. I paid $33+change for 1200 labels. (OL150/ Avery 5164 product #). You can use the free Avery label designer or Maestro label designer which is free when you purchase your label.
Don't have sticker labels? Print this out on card stock paper and simply glue/tape it to an envelope or plastic baggy.

Rasberry Margarita
By profession, I am a bartender. I have been bartending for a decade now. (Holy cow!). People constantly ask me how to make various drinks.
I prefer to shake all my drinks. When you shake the margarita it gets super cold (frost on the tin) and it creates that cool looking froth on top.
Ingredients:
Gold tequila 1 shot
Chambord 1/2 shot
Sweet & Sour Mix
Cranberry juice
*Roses Lime Juice
Build: In a metal shaker tin full of ice, pour a shot of tequila, 1/2 shot of Chambord, a splash of cranberry juice just enough to enhance the color. 3/4 cup of Sweet & Sour mix. The splash of Rose's Lime Juice is optional.
Place the shaker top or pint glass over the shaker tin and shake rigorously for about 8 seconds or until the tin frosts. Pour the drink into a salt-rimmed glass.
To get the salt to stick, pour Rose's Lime Juice into a bowl, dip the glass in the juice, then dip the rim of the glass into a bowl of Kosher salt.
And that's how I make my raspberry margaritas.
